ABOUT

Cye Sterling was born in California and raised in Oregon, where he has lived since childhood. After graduating with honors from West Albany High School, he served in the Army National Guard as Military Police, earning the rank of Specialist and served with the Funeral Honor Guard.Sterling attended Mt. Hood Community College and Montana State University. During his schooling at Montana State, he worked as a legal aid gaining valuable experience.

Sterling worked his way up from blue-collar jobs into white-collar logistics in the auto and metal industries. He became a small business owner, and self-published author. Inspired by the sudden loss of two friends, he is currently writing a children’s graphic novel to help young people cope with complicated grief. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cye turned to advocacy, raising awareness around substance use disorder.

He is currently volunteering as an active listener with 7 Cups, a free support service. He is also active with Indivisible Oregon. Sterling recalls growing up being told that in America you could do and be anything you want in life. He remains steadfast in that belief and knows the importance of having ones basic needs met. He fights for housing, medical care and food security for all Oregonians. It is on that foundation that community thrives and dreams are pursued.

He has one daughter and wants to ensure the world provides as many opportunities to her that he has enjoyed in his life.Sterling is motivated to serve because he wants Oregonians to have a representative they can count on to protect state sovereignty at all costs.

Sterling is a new face in local politics. He has felt strongly that if that if there were a time to serve his country again, the time is now. There would be no greater mission, and honor, than to fight for Oregonians. To quote Zohran Mamdani, Sterling states; “What I lack in experience, I make up for in integrity.” Cye Sterling loves Oregon, Portland, and District 43. He is ready to fight for families of all varieties, vulnerable communities, and the future of our state. He answers only to his values and the people he wants to serve—you.

YOUR VOTE: MY PROMISE

I want to listen to Oregonians and protect your/our, way of life. Today, there is a clear threat to America, and that threat is not from it’s citizens trying to simply live a secure and happy life. It is not from the mother dropping her children off at daycare, wondering how she will pay the bill. It is not from the immigrant that is working hard, dreaming of citizenship. It is not from our neighbor who votes for a different party, and its not from the soldier praying he will not be asked to break his oath to country.

The enemy is from the leadership that create these fears and purposefully seeks to increase them further. It is from the leader that serves some, but not all. It is from the leader that feeds on money and power at the cost of the people. It is from the leader that ignores the will of the people. It is from the leader that betrayed their oath of office.

My promise to you is this: no leader that ever means harm to Oregon will ever be successful while there is air in my lungs.I am not afraid to say what is. I have no fear of retaliation or attempts at my life. My life has been full and brought me to this moment. The only thing I fear now is having to watch others fear. That is not acceptable. It cannot be tolerated now or ever.

America is changing before our eyes. For generations, we lived knowing our government existed to protect our freedoms-not threaten them. We were raised to believe that hard work and courage could take us anywhere, and that America stood as the defender of liberty and justice for all.

But freedom is fragile, and there are those who would see it weakened. Our Founders built this nation so that power would always rest with the people. They created checks and balances to prevent tyranny including the vital separation between state and federal power. The Tenth Amendment reminds us: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.”This is the foundation of state sovereignty. States are co-sovereign governments entrusted to defend the rights of their citizens.”

I will defend Oregon.
